The Legend of Zelda Movie Trailer Could Appear During Nintendo’s September 8 Direct

Nintendo's 40th Anniversary Direct is scheduled for September 8, but the movie trailer remains unconfirmed.

Nintendo’s 40th Anniversary Direct could be the first real chance to see Sony’s live-action The Legend of Zelda movie. The broadcast is scheduled for September 8 at 15:00 UK time, and its timing lines up with DanielRPK’s claim that the film’s first trailer could arrive next week. Nintendo has not confirmed the movie as part of the lineup, so a trailer remains a possibility rather than a promised reveal.

Nintendo says the 40th Anniversary Direct will include a variety of Zelda-related information. Its announcement specifically names The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2, giving the presentation a confirmed game focus while leaving the film out of the official details.

Sony’s movie is currently scheduled to release on April 30, 2027. Principal photography, led by director Wes Ball, wrapped earlier in 2026, so the project has material that could support a first look if Nintendo and Sony choose to reveal it during the Direct.

Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will play Link, while Bo Bragason will play Princess Zelda. Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad are producing the movie, giving the project a notable connection to both Nintendo and Hollywood.

Speculation has also picked up around a fan-discovered domain registration for the movie. None of these clues confirms that a trailer will appear on September 8, but the Direct is now a specific window to watch instead of a vague release period.
