The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct will take place Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, giving Nintendo fans a 30-minute presentation dedicated to the long-running series. The broadcast will begin at 10:00 a.m. ET, with start times varying across regions.
Nintendo has confirmed that the anniversary presentation will cover more than games, which leaves room for updates on other Zelda projects as well. The Ocarina of Time remake is the clearest game-related subject to watch, while the upcoming live-action movie could also receive news.

The presentation will air on Sept. 8 across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Viewers in Australia and New Zealand will see it after midnight on Sept. 9.

How to watch the Zelda anniversary presentation
Nintendo will stream the Direct on YouTube through channels covering multiple languages, with subtitles available where required. The company’s regional channels will carry the presentation at the same time, while other streaming channels and content creators may host live reactions.
What Nintendo could show
The Ocarina of Time remake was announced earlier in 2026 and is scheduled to release this year, making a first gameplay look one of the clearest possibilities for the Direct. Nintendo has shared very little about the project, including whether it is a full remake with rebuilt visuals and systems or a more traditional remaster with upgraded presentation and quality-of-life improvements.
A Norwegian retailer listing placed Monolith Soft alongside the remake, but a retailer entry does not confirm the Xenoblade Chronicles studio’s role. Nintendo could settle that question during the Direct, along with the game’s scope and presentation.

News about the live-action movie could appear alongside the game updates. Nintendo may also use the event to announce Zelda-themed hardware or peripherals, including a possible special edition Nintendo Switch 2.
Fans are also hoping for Switch 2 releases of The Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD, although neither possibility has been confirmed. A new mainline game following 2023’s Tears of the Kingdom would be a much larger surprise. Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom launched six years apart, so the timing may be early for the next major entry, but the anniversary gives Nintendo a natural stage for a new announcement.
Another Nintendo Direct will follow on Sept. 9
The Zelda presentation is the first of two Nintendo Direct broadcasts scheduled for this week. A regular Nintendo Direct will air on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 7:00 a.m. PT, 10:00 a.m. ET, and 3:00 p.m. BST, with a 40-minute runtime.
After that presentation ends, Nintendo will host a 110-minute Treehouse Live stream featuring gameplay. Zelda could appear during that broadcast as well, though Nintendo has not confirmed its lineup.
