Uli Latukefu May Be Bringing Ganondorf to Live-Action Zelda

The live-action The Legend of Zelda movie may have found its Ganondorf. Australian actor Uli Latukefu is reportedly attached to play the Gerudo king, but Nintendo and Sony Pictures have not confirmed the casting.
A report links Uli Latukefu to Ganondorf
In an X post, cinema journalist Kyle Buchanan said he had been hearing that Latukefu was playing Ganondorf.

Deadline also reports that Latukefu signed a “multi-picture deal” with Sony tied to his role as Ganondorf. The agreement could keep him connected to the franchise beyond the 2027 film, but no sequels, project count, or production dates have been confirmed.
Latukefu has appeared as the young adult version of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in Young Rock and played Byamba in Netflix’s historical drama Marco Polo. He has also appeared in Black Adam, Alien: Covenant, and Countdown. His previous work gives fans a familiar reference point for the actor who may soon portray one of gaming’s most recognizable villains.
If the casting report is accurate, Latukefu would play the central antagonist of the movie as Ganondorf, the Gerudo king who repeatedly threatens Hyrule across the Zelda series. For now, the claim remains unconfirmed. Neither Nintendo nor director Wes Ball has announced Latukefu as part of the cast.
The confirmed cast and release date
Nintendo and Sony Pictures have confirmed Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda. The movie is directed by Wes Ball, with Derek Connolly and T.S. Nowlin credited as screenwriters. Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad are serving as producers.
Filming for the movie has reportedly been completed. The film was originally scheduled to reach theaters on March 26, 2027, before moving to May 7. It was later brought forward again and is now scheduled to arrive on April 30, 2027. That still leaves plenty of time for Nintendo and Sony Pictures to reveal more details about the adaptation, including whether Latukefu will officially claim the Gerudo crown.
Nintendo also has The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake planned for Nintendo Switch 2 later in 2026. The remake could give fans another chance to revisit Ganondorf’s game history before the live-action movie arrives.
