Subnautica 2 has already arrived on PC and Xbox Game Pass, but its long-term place on the service is still open.
In Krafton’s announcement, the publisher said putting the game on more storefronts alongside Game Pass gives players an “opportunity to be part of the development journey from the start.” Krafton has not confirmed whether the game will stay on the service after early access ends, and it has also said the full launch price will rise.
Unknown Worlds said in a June 2025 Q&A that the early access build would come to Game Pass later that year. Krafton later confirmed a 2026 delay and said it would share more through developer blogs over the following months. It also said Subnautica 2 would not launch in early access on PlayStation 5 because Sony does not support that kind of preview program.
Both Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero spent time on Game Pass, so the sequel’s arrival fits the series even if its post-early-access future is still unresolved. More context on the project’s recent turbulence is available in Krafton’s development update after the Unknown Worlds layoffs.
