Stranger Than Heaven’s Act 1 Trailer Brings Snoop Dogg to 1915 Kokura

Makoto Daito's opening chapter follows his stowaway journey to Kokura, while the trailer also outlines combat built around controlling each hand independently.

RGG Studio’s Stranger Than Heaven Act 1 trailer follows Makoto Daito as he sneaks aboard merchant Orpheus’s ship bound for Japan and reaches Kokura, Fukuoka, in 1915. The opening chapter also brings Daito face to face with the harsh realities of life in the city, while singing features prominently in the footage.

Orpheus is the merchant whose ship Daito boards. Snoop Dogg’s role as Orpheus had already been confirmed in an earlier cast reveal.

Daito’s story spans five eras, 1915, 1929, 1943, 1951, and 1965, across five cities modeled on real locations from their respective periods. Four more trailers are planned, each introducing another city and era in his journey.

Combat gives each hand a separate role

Players can control Daito’s left and right sides independently, letting one hand block while the other counters. They can chain a jab into a heavier blow, send enemies flying with a charged attack, tackle opponents while they are staggering, or pin them down for a flurry of punches. Knives, hammers, katanas, and other weapons can be mastered and enhanced as Daito fights across the eras.

Stranger Than Heaven is scheduled to launch on January 15, 2027, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud, PlayStation 5, and Steam. It will also be available through Xbox Game Pass. Preorders are priced at £64.99 / $69.99.

Which of the four remaining eras or cities are you most curious to see? Follow along as the next chapters of Daito’s five-era journey come into view on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram.
