Mega Staraptor will make its Pokémon GO debut during a Super Mega Raid Day on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. The event will bring boosted shiny odds, extra Raid Passes, a new Brave Bird+ attack, and a chance to catch Staraptor with Mega Level 1 already unlocked.
A community raid listing gives Mega Staraptor’s encounter a Tier 7 classification and seven shields, with Trainers advised to Mega Evolve Pokémon to help break through them. The timing matches the September 19 window from an earlier unconfirmed Staraptor report, which had not established whether the event would happen.
What Mega Staraptor Raid Day includes
Mega Staraptor will appear in Super Mega Raids as a Flying and Fighting type. Shiny Staraptor encounters will have boosted odds of 1 in 10. Raid encounters will produce Staraptor between 1,538 and 1,614 CP without a weather boost, or between 1,922 and 2,018 CP with Partly Cloudy or Windy weather.
All Trainers will be able to earn up to five extra free Raid Passes by spinning Gym Photo Discs, bringing the daily total to six. The remote raid limit will rise to 20 from Friday, September 18, at 5:00 p.m. through Saturday, September 19, at 8:00 p.m. PDT.
Raid bonuses and ticket details
An event ticket will cost US$4.99, or the equivalent price in local currency. Ticket holders will receive eight extra Raid Passes from Gym Photo Discs for a daily total of 14, along with a higher chance of receiving Rare Candy XL from Super Mega Raid Battles, 5,000 extra XP from every Raid Battle, and 5,000 extra Stardust from every Raid Battle.
The ticket bonuses will apply during the event window from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time on September 19. The Super Mega Staraptor Raid Day Ultra Box will also include the event ticket and one Premium Battle Pass for US$4.99.
Brave Bird+ adds another Mega reward
Staraptor caught from Super Mega Raids will begin with Mega Level 1 unlocked. Mega Staraptor can progress to Super Max Level, which will unlock the extra Charged Attack Brave Bird+ while it is Mega Evolved.
Brave Bird+ will have 70 power in Trainer Battles and lower the user’s Defense by three stages. In Raid Battles, it will have 150 power, with its strength increasing alongside Staraptor’s Mega Level. Staraptor must reach the third Mega Level, Max, before it can progress to Super Max, and Mega Energy will be needed alongside Mega Raids to power up that progress.
Research and raid locations
Timed Research will be available during the event. Completing its tasks will award a Premium Battle Pass and an encounter with Gardevoir. The research will expire, so its tasks must be finished and its rewards claimed before the event research ends.
Super Mega Raids may appear only at certain Gyms and will require teamwork. The Pokémon GO web map can show locations where Super Mega Raids may appear, raids already in progress, and nearby community meetups several days ahead of time.
Leading counters include Mega Y Mewtwo with Psycho Cut and Future Sight+, Mega Rayquaza with Air Slash and Dragon Ascent, Mega X Mewtwo with Psycho Cut and Psystrike, Shadow Mewtwo with Psycho Cut and Psystrike, and Mega Y Raichu with Thunder Shock and Zap Cannon+.
