Phantom Blade Zero’s August 17 State of Play will show more of its combat

Pre-ordering grants early access to the Treasure Basin accessory and Legacy outfit, although both items can also be earned through in-game progression.

Phantom Blade Zero will receive a dedicated State of Play broadcast on Monday, August 17, with the presentation focused on its combat systems, character builds, and dark wuxia setting. PlayStation also confirmed that pre-orders are live in its announcement.

The broadcast will begin at 7:00 p.m. PT / 10:00 p.m. ET on August 17. Viewers in other regions can watch on August 18 at 3:00 a.m. BST / 10:00 a.m. Beijing Time / 11:00 a.m. JST. The previously undated State of Play plans now have a confirmed broadcast date.

The extended pre-order trailer only covers the opening stretch of Soul’s journey. It shows battles atop a speeding wagon and a confrontation with former comrades, including The Hunt, but the August presentation will go further by introducing new characters tied to the story and showing how different builds can change the way players approach combat.

Donnie Yen’s role in Phantom Blade Zero

Donnie Yen has worked as a creative consultant on Phantom Blade Zero since 2023. His martial arts and action-filmmaking experience helped inform the game’s combat design, which aims to deliver a kung fu-focused experience.

Yen also serves as the Facial & Motion Capture Actor for Mó Yuan, the father of the protagonist Soul. His involvement adds another connection between the game’s martial arts presentation and its story cast.

The pre-order trailer sets the stage for the upcoming broadcast:

Phantom Blade Zero release date and pre-order bonuses

Phantom Blade Zero will launch on October 29, 2026, and is available to pre-order for PlayStation 5. Pre-ordering provides early access to the Treasure Basin accessory and the Legacy outfit. Neither item is exclusive to pre-orders, since both can also be obtained through in-game progression.

Creators planning to co-stream the broadcast or save it as a video-on-demand archive should account for licensed music that Sony Interactive Entertainment does not control. The company advises leaving copyrighted music out of recap videos, clips, or archived broadcasts to avoid licensing problems.
