Peak’s Latest Update Brings Cannibalism and More to the Survival Chaos

Team Peak adds cannibalism, new settings, and fixes in update 1.1.0 for Peak.

So, here’s something you probably didn’t expect: Peak, the survival game by Team Peak and Aggro Crab, has officially added cannibalism in its newest update. Yeah, after saying it wouldn’t happen, they went ahead and did it. It’s update 1.1.0, and it’s got some quirky new features alongside a bunch of fixes and quality-of-life changes.

Why does this matter? Well, cannibalism wasn’t just a random idea tossed in; players had been begging for it. You know how it is when a community gets fixated on something weird and wild, this was it. The devs played it cool at first, jokingly calling it a “totally normal update” with “nothing to see here,” but then bam, right under the features list, just one line: “Added cannibalism.”

Besides that eyebrow-raising addition, the update also brings Polish and Turkish translations, a new setting to tweak your climbing field of view, and a push-to-mute option. That last one might be a godsend if you’ve got that one streamer friend who just won’t stop talking to chat. Plus, they’ve fixed a slew of bugs and balanced some items to keep things running smoother.

Peak Cannibalism Update Notes

FEATURES:

  • Added cannibalism.

OPTIONS:

  • Polish and Turkish translations are in!
  • New Setting: “Climbing Extra Field Of View” lets you adjust how FOV changes while climbing.
  • New Setting: PUSH TO MUTE, the opposite of Push To Talk. No more hearing your streamer friend’s endless chatter.
  • Settings previously hidden outside the Main Menu now show up but are disabled to reduce confusion.

BALANCE CHANGES:

  • Fixed an issue where Trail Mix, Granola Bar, Medicinal Root, and Airline Food didn’t give extra hunger reduction after cooking.
  • Cooking something Well-Done then stashing it no longer removes buffs; Well-Done items give the same bonus as Cooked items.
  • Remedy Fungus now cures poison in addition to injury. Seems logical, right?

MAJOR FIXES:

  • Temporary fix for the FALL DAMAGE BUG that caused excessive damage from short falls, often from spamming climb and lunge buttons. They’re still investigating some cases, like sliding down walls versus slopes.
  • THE NAPBERRY PLANT IS TEMPORARILY DISABLED due to lag and crash issues. It’s a weird one, apparently. It won’t appear until they figure out a better way.
  • Performance improved significantly; wildflowers were the culprits behind some lag.
  • Fixed an item-stuck-in-hands bug caused by rapid item swapping by adding a tiny delay before picking up new items.

MINOR FIXES:

  • You can’t get the Bookworm Badge by just reading the last page anymore.
  • Reading guidebook pages out of order no longer messes with Bookworm Badge stat tracking.
  • Removed an annoying sound effect that played when landing from a fall.
  • Ticks no longer count as berries for the Foraging Badge (thankfully).
  • Fixed display errors for cooked items in temporary slots.
  • Eating a Scorchberry now counts toward the Forager Badge.
  • Getting an Anti-Rope Cannon properly grants the Esoterica Badge.
  • Progress achievements like Beachcomber Badge can’t be earned while you’re a ghost; you have to be alive to get them.

And there you have it. Cannibalism, weird plant removals, climbing FOV tweaks, and some quality-of-life improvements all wrapped up in one update. Why did they add cannibalism after saying no? Guess they figured it fits the survival chaos vibe or maybe they just wanted to shake things up. Either way, it’s in the game now.
