PEAK Patch 2.04.a Brings CALDERA and THE KILN Back With Room Codes
The update also adds Condors to CALDERA, new hazards to THE KILN, and several fixes for items, saves, and co-op play.

PEAK Patch 2.04.a brings CALDERA and THE KILN back to the map rotation, with new hazards waiting in both areas and room codes added as the co-op climber prepares for console ports. The official Steam announcement for Patch 2.04.a also covers balance changes, bug fixes, quality-of-life adjustments, and a modding update.
CALDERA now has Condors flying around its large nests, while THE KILN gains petrifying rocks and hot rock bridges. The spawner in THE KILN gets 2 more luggages, while 1 luggage is removed from the statue area at the end of CALDERA and a better luggage spawn is guaranteed there. The rotation change follows the earlier extension that kept GLOOM and THE CITADEL active for another week while the team worked on fixes for CALDERA and THE KILN, as detailed in the one-week rotation extension.
Room codes are the other major player-facing addition. A lobby’s pause menu now displays a code that can be copied and sent to friends, while the main menu’s JOIN GAME option accepts it. Existing invitations remain available, and a Settings option lets streamers hide the code.
Balance changes touch solo runs and co-op rescues. Fanny Pack is disabled in solo play, Scout Effigy duplication with Scout’s Generosity is blocked again, and Rescue Claw ragdolls a friend for less time. Bouncy Mushroom physics also receive a targeted pass, with higher maximum velocity from high drops, faster decay on repeated bounces, and fewer unpredictable off-angle launches that can cause fall damage.
Among the fixes, missing host items after disconnects, deleted items in laggy lobbies, broken Frog Legs cooking, and incorrect Peaks Summitted stat increases all receive attention. Campfire saves now remember every item around the fire, and a new HUD indicator shows when a player is muted with push-to-talk or push-to-mute settings. The team also warns that merging console porting work into the main Steam version may introduce bugs or stop installed mods from working.
PEAK Patch 2.04.a Notes
Patch 2.04.a returns 2 biomes to the rotation, adds new environmental threats and luggage changes, introduces room codes for future cross-platform play, and adjusts several items and movement interactions. The full changelog also includes co-op, save, voice, map-generation, and modding fixes.
The CALDERA and THE KILN
Have been re-added to the map rotation…with some extra goodies ːPEAKpointː
- Condors now fly around the CALDERA. Ever wonder why those big nests were around? Don’t get kidnapped!
- Petrifying rocks have been added to THE KILN
- Hot rock bridges have been added to THE KILN
- Added 2 more luggages in the spawner for THE KILN and removed 1 luggage from the statue area at the end of the CALDERA, but made it guaranteed to spawn better luggage.
PREPARING FOR PORTS
Believe it or not, we’ve actually been putting in a lot of work behind the scenes to prepare the game for console ports! In this patch, we’ve merged in the porting work with the main Steam version of the game. This may introduce bugs or cause installed mods to stop working, but we wanted to get these issues out of the way before we actually launch on consoles. But on the bright side, we now have:
ROOM CODES!
PEAK has room codes!!! This is how players will be able to play cross-platform once our console ports are out.
- In a lobby, you should see a room code on the pause menu that can be copied and sent to your friends.
- They can enter that code by hitting “JOIN GAME” on the main menu.
- Existing ways to invite your friends to games will still work.
- In the Settings menu, there is an option to hide the room code (for streamers)
BALANCE CHANGES
- Fanny Pack is now disabled in solo play.
- You can no longer duplicate a Scout Effigy with Scout’s Generosity (for real this time)
- Using the Rescue Claw on a friend will ragdoll them for less time, making it easier for them to grab onto something once the claw completes.
- Bouncy Mushroom changes:
- The max velocity you can get from bouncing off a mushroom from high up has been raised. This should make it more consistent to get the Mycoacrobatics Badge.
- Jump height will decay slightly faster on consecutive bounces.
- Bouncing onto a mushroom from higher up will now make it less likely for you to bounce at an unpredictable off-angle that could lead to taking fall damage.
- Dislodging stuck-in arrows will no longer take priority over interacting with other things you might be looking at
BUGFIXES
- Fixed “evil bounce mushrooms” having the same coloring as normal ones in the mushroom hell variant of ROOTS.
- Fixed cooking a Rescue Claw leading to unintended behavior.
- Fixed Frogs not turning into Frog Legs when getting cooked by environmental situations such as explosions.
- Fixed an issue introduced in the last patch where Pandora’s Lunchbox would only inflict one type of status.
- Fixed a case where the host’s dropped items would sometimes disappear if they disconnected
- Rapidly dropping/picking up items in a laggy lobby should no longer have a chance of deleting the item
- Spike traps that have had terrain generate on top of them will not trigger.
- Fixed a case where your “Peaks Summitted” stat would get incremented several times when winning, instead of just once
QUALITY OF LIFE
- There is now a HUD indicator for when you are muted when using PUSH TO TALK/PUSH TO MUTE settings.
- Your campfire save will now remember all the items you’ve got around the campfire instead of just what you’re carrying on you
MODDER NOTES
- Citadel’s TowerStacker code is no longer obfuscated
