Starting a run in Peak, you might have instantly spotted that odd green plush, Bing Bong, who somehow survived a plane crash. For many players, Bing Bong became a quirky companion early on, even if eventually tossed aside for more valuable items. But why was this plush so special? It turns out, the devs were using Bing Bong to join games and chat with players, at least for a while.
Lots of streamers reported talking to Bing Bong and hearing responses or seeing the plush magically reappear after being discarded. It felt like some supernatural connection, but nobody knew what was going on. I mean, who expects a plushie to be sentient, right? We even tried reaching out to Aggro Crab and Landfall for answers, but got no reply.
Finally, a reel on Aggro Crab’s social media cleared things up. The devs admitted they were joining players’ games through Bing Bong when those players streamed publicly. It was their way of interacting directly with the community. Kinda wild, huh? But this feature was cut mid-June. Now, if anyone claims the devs are still hopping into games through Bing Bong or any other method, well, they’re just full of it.
So, Bing Bong isn’t alive anymore. That doesn’t mean you should leave him behind, though. If you want to be the top Scout and snag every badge, carrying Bing Bong along might be part of your journey. Just don’t expect any thank yous when you finally set him free.
