PAYDAY 2 Update 248.2 Fixes Under the Hammer Softlocks and Performance Issues

PAYDAY 2 Update 248.2 focuses on the newly released Under the Hammer heist, with performance work, faster interactions, new gameplay options, and fixes for several softlocks. The 135MB patch also addresses controller issues in the briefing menu. The full details are available in the official Steam changelog.

Under the Hammer receives the bulk of the changes. Players can now explode the vault ceiling earlier, the roof zipline takes 100 seconds instead of 115 seconds, and cover removals for the failsafe and puzzle require less interaction time. The update also improves the chances for IT to do its job during stealth.

Several frustrating failure points have been removed as well. The patch fixes achievements that only unlocked for the host, two separate softlocks tied to stealth and scanning, misplaced auction items and Gage packages, a curator getting stuck inside a security guard, and an ECM jammer interaction involving the keypad. Performance dips remain under investigation in parts of the map, so this update continues the work started by Update 248.1 rather than closing the issue entirely.

Alaskan Deal and Breakin’ Feds also receive focused fixes. Bain will no longer count down the start of the assault during the ambush in Alaskan Deal, while Breakin’ Feds no longer softlocks after Garret enters his office for the second time.

• Fixed multiple achievements only being unlocked for the host
• Fixed the fur coat auction item sometime spawning inside another item
• Fixed a gage package that could spawn inside the ground on the roof
• Fixed a gage package that could potentially spawn out of bounds on one side of the roof
• Fixed the lead curator sometimes stopping inside a security guard
• Fixed the keypad not being blocked by ECM jammers
• Fixed a softlock when entering the wrong code in stealth
• Fixed a softlock when the alarm was raised while the art piece was being scanned

Alaskan Deal

• Fixed Bain ruining the immersion of the ambush by counting down the start of the assault

Breakin’ Feds

• Fixed softlock after Garret enters his office for the second time

Players who run into problems with an unmodded installation can verify the game files through Steam. Right-click PAYDAY 2 in the Steam library, open Properties, choose LOCAL FILES, and select VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES.... The process may take some time to finish.
