Palit has brought the GeForce RTX 3060 back with a new Infinity 2 model, even though Nvidia’s Ampere graphics architecture is now two generations old. The GeForce RTX 3060 Infinity 2 OC 12GB is a newly created graphics card for 2026 that closely follows the design and specifications of Palit’s 2021 version.
The card uses an Ampere GPU and includes 12GB of VRAM. That memory capacity was a strong selling point for the RTX 3060 when 60-class cards commonly offered 8GB or less, but the extra memory does not erase the age of the underlying GPU. Modern games will still be limited by the card’s overall performance before 12GB becomes a magic solution.
Palit described the RTX 3060 as the “reigning champion” on the Steam Hardware Survey in its announcement, which the company shared on X. That may help explain why the model is returning, although popularity alone does not make an older card a strong buy in 2026.

Pricing remains the biggest missing piece. Palit has not revealed how much the Infinity 2 will cost, and the card will need to come in well below newer entry-level options to make sense for a gaming PC. At the right price, 12GB of VRAM could appeal to people building a 1080p system on a tight budget. At a typical new-GPU price, the older Ampere hardware would be much harder to recommend.
The launch also arrives as PC builders face higher demand for memory and graphics hardware from AI-focused systems. That makes a fresh RTX 3060 model feel like an unusual answer to today’s market, especially when buyers are looking for current-generation performance rather than a familiar card from 2021.
