Have you heard the news? Team Ninja has just dropped a fresh update for Ninja Gaiden II Black, and it’s packed with some seriously cool stuff. We’re talking about a photo mode that lets you capture those epic moments and a brand-new way to experience the game with New Game+. Let’s break it down!
On January 23, Team Ninja surprised us by announcing the remake of Ninja Gaiden II Black, which is based on the iconic 2008 title. The best part? It launched on Xbox Game Pass right alongside the first trailer for Ninja Gaiden 4, released later in 2025.

The team rolled out patch notes for this major update—version 1.003.000 on PlayStation and 1.0.7.0 on Xbox and PC.

- New Game+
The ability to start a new game at any difficulty level you’ve cleared before is here! You’ll carry over your weapons and Ninpo from your last playthrough but they will revert back to level 1 when starting anew. - Photo Mode
A brand new Photo Mode in the Options Menu lets you move the camera around within limits so you can snap some great screenshots. - Ability to Hide Projectile Weapon
You can now toggle “Show Projectile Weapon” in “Game Settings,” allowing your character to hide their projectile weapon while it’s slung on their back.
Adjustments:
- The HP of enemies in Chapter 8, “City of the Fallen Goddess,” has been lowered.
- The HP of enemies in Chapter 11, “Night in the City of Water,” has also seen a reduction.
- The number of enemies in Chapter 13, “The Temple of Sacrifice,” has been increased.
- More foes have been added in Chapter 14, “A Tempered Gravestone.”
- Ayane’s attacks now do more damage— for some extra punch!
Bug Fixes:
- Irritating control issues that popped up when playing over 120 FPS or under heavy load have been fixed.
- No more controller vibration problems based on computing load or FPS settings!
- Bugs causing players to go out of bounds during specific chapters are squashed!
- Bugs preventing progress during certain chapters are resolved as well.
- A nasty bug that caused crashes during long gaming sessions has been addressed too.
