PlayStation announced two new wireless headsets for PS5 on September 15, 2026, with the PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset arriving in select markets during the 2026 holiday season and the Pulse Edge Wireless Headset following in early 2027. Both headsets use custom planar magnetic drivers, with larger drivers intended to deliver deeper bass while preserving sound separation and spatial accuracy. That should help players pick out directional details such as footsteps and reloads, particularly in competitive shooters. The new pair follows Pulse Elite, which PlayStation introduced in 2024 as its first wireless headset with planar magnetic drivers and PlayStation Link.
Shared features across both Pulse headsets
PlayStation Link provides lossless, low-latency audio and lets users switch between compatible PS5 consoles, PlayStation Portal remote players, PCs, and Macs. Both headsets can also connect to supported Bluetooth devices at the same time.
Integrated microphones with AI-enhanced noise rejection are included across the lineup. An updated design adds rotating earcups, allowing either headset to lie flat for easier carrying. Both models will be available in White and Midnight Black.
Pulse Edge adds active noise cancellation and a detachable mic
Pulse Edge is the higher-spec option, using eight magnets per planar driver compared with four in the standard Pulse headset. It also includes active noise cancellation, a detachable boom microphone, and a hidden microphone that remains available when the boom is removed. A carrying case, audio and microphone jack, and built-in PS5 game audio and chat balance controls are included as well.
The standard PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset keeps things simpler with an integrated microphone and volume controls. Both models include a PlayStation Link adapter with a USB Type-C connector, but the Pulse Edge adds the extra controls and accessories aimed at users who want more control over their audio setup.
