Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Will Tie Operator Growth to Risky Extractions
Successful exfils will advance Dog Tags toward new traits, while recovering an Operator who goes MIA will cost DMZ Cash.

An Operator’s strongest DMZ traits also make them costlier to recover. Each successful exfil earns a Trait Point, and the DMZ Cash fee to recover an MIA Operator rises with the number of points invested.
Players start with two Active Duty slots, with a third unlocking through DMZ Player Levels. Operators remain assigned to their slots until dismissed, so a roster of specialized characters lets players pick a build for each deployment. DMZ XP improves Dog Tag quality, and Trait Points can be saved or spent through the Operators Station’s Traits menu. Each Operator can earn up to 18 points, while the three trees offer 66 Traits in total.
The first point opens a tree’s initial Trait. Later points can deepen that path or open another tree, but choosing a Trait blocks its alternative on the same branch for that Operator. Warfighter’s Quick Fix shortens the delay before health regeneration after a kill. Scout’s Extra Container Loot can add an item to a container, while UAV Upgrade turns a UAV into a longer-lasting Advanced UAV. Survivalist includes Faster Revive, Metabolism, which slowly restores lost health sections, and Consumable Duration, which extends effects and gear durability.
Recover or dismiss an MIA Operator
An enemy elimination makes an Operator Missing in Action and prevents them from deploying again until they are recovered or dismissed. Recovery happens at the FOB’s Active Duty station and uses DMZ Cash from the Bank. A recovered Operator keeps their Traits but loses their gear, so they need a new loadout before the next run. Players can dismiss the Operator and recruit a replacement instead, and a Free Loadout is available every time they deploy if they run short on equipment.
Operator Prestige resets Traits for a permanent bonus
Operator Prestige is separate from standard Player Level progression. An Operator can enter Prestige after reaching 18 Trait Points and meeting the required DMZ Cash and rare-gear conditions. Prestige resets their Trait Points and grants a randomly selected Permanent Prestige Trait, but it also wipes the Operator’s Backpack, so remove any items you want to keep first.
The Permanent Prestige Trait stays with that Operator if they are dismissed, moved to another Active Duty slot, or given a different Operator Skin. Players can Prestige again after rebuilding their Traits, though each later level requires more DMZ Cash and more valuable gear.
Shared loot links Operators and crafting
Bank and Stash contents are shared across all Active Duty Operators. A Scout built to collect supplies can support another character prepared for a different kind of deployment.
Loot also feeds the FOB’s 3D Printer. The FOB guide covers four basic Resources, Synthetics, Electronics, Chemicals, and Metals, plus rarer 3D Printer Ingredients such as Binding Catalyst, Biomaterials, Detonators, and Control Units. Recipes unlock through progression or turn up during deployments. Crafted items can go straight to the Stash or onto an Operator.
Deployments offer Story Missions, Dynamic Operations, and Free Roam as three ways to enter Hajin. Story Missions provide replayable, narrative-led objectives. Dynamic Operations send squads after multiple goals and award DMZ XP, Cash, and a Supply Drop. The Hajin guide covers the deployment options.
Digital preorder and pre-purchase offers list Campaign Early Access for October 16, 2026, and DMZ Early Access for October 20, ahead of the full game’s October 23 launch.
