Minecraft Dungeons II Will Add Jumping and a Connected World on September 29
Mojang design director Laura De Llorens also discussed The Sift, flexible multiplayer, and expanded armor and enchantment systems.

Minecraft Dungeons II is scheduled to launch on September 29, 2026, with jumping and a connected world that will make movement a much larger part of combat and discovery. In an Official Xbox Podcast interview, Mojang design director Laura De Llorens explained how those systems fit into the sequel alongside a new dimension, flexible multiplayer, and deeper character customization. The sequel’s first gameplay trailer introduced the Sift as a new dimension and showed vertical movement shaping its combat in the first gameplay trailer.
Jumping opens vertical routes
Jumping will do more than add another button to combat. De Llorens said the move gives the team room to build vertical spaces, hidden areas, and more places for players to discover. Battles can now use height as part of movement, while paths through the world no longer have to stay on a single flat level.
The sequel will also connect its regions into one continuous world. Players will be able to walk from the beginning of the world to the end, with fast travel available for longer trips. Quests, shortcuts, NPCs, and changing locations are meant to make the setting feel like a place players can influence instead of a series of disconnected missions.
The Sift brings a different kind of Minecraft dimension
The story begins with the heroes’ camp being destroyed, sending them into a much larger problem involving the Illager Council and an environmental crisis. Side quests and conversations with NPCs will provide more context for the people and events beyond the main storyline.
At the center of the sequel is The Sift, a dimension designed to feel separate from Minecraft’s familiar worlds. Its ecosystem is independent, and some of its mobs survive through conditions that are harmful to the player. De Llorens described the setting as neither simply friendly nor hostile, with a distinct visual style and more mysterious areas waiting beyond its brighter surfaces.
Multiplayer adapts to the group
Minecraft Dungeons II will support solo play, matchmaking, and multiplayer sessions that adjust as people join or leave. A session can scale from one player to two and then return to a single-player setup without forcing the group to start over. Couch co-op can also be combined with online play, allowing players in the same room to join friends elsewhere.
Character building is receiving several changes as well. Armor will be divided into four pieces, talismans will provide passive boosts, and enchantments will use effects and rarities to give gear more room for customization. Players who prefer to keep things simple can equip whatever looks appealing, while those who enjoy studying stats will have detailed menus to inspect each item’s impact. The system builds on the gear tinkering and enchantments previously shown in the sequel.
Minecraft Dungeons II will be available on September 29, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, cloud, Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. It will also be included with Game Pass.
