Mass Effect Fans Memorialize BioWare as #SaveMassEffect Graffiti Appears in Madrid
A tombstone outside EA offices marks BioWare from 1995 to 2026 and carries a line from the series.

Fans are honoring BioWare with makeshift tombstones outside EA offices, while #SaveMassEffect graffiti has appeared around the publisher’s Madrid site. One BioWare marker reads “RIP,” dates the studio from 1995 to 2026, and carries the line, “It had to be me. Someone else might have gotten it wrong.” Other studios shut down by EA are memorialized nearby.
Fans have placed tombstones honoring the studios shut down by EA, including, of course, BioWare itself.

The gestures follow BioWare’s Oct. 21 announcement that it was closing and early development on the next Mass Effect was ending. The studio said its immediate focus was supporting its team through the transition.
