Marvel Rivals Will Upgrade Storm’s Sacred Skies Skin to Legendary

The $16 cosmetic will receive new lobby and MVP animations plus an improved Ultimate effect at no extra cost, while more Legendary Storm skins are planned for later in 2026.

Marvel Rivals will upgrade Storm’s Sacred Skies swimsuit cosmetic from Epic to Legendary after fans criticized its lower rarity. The change is planned, but it will not be available immediately.

Storm has received fewer Legendary cosmetics than much of Marvel Rivals’ launch roster, so players were already waiting for a major outfit for the character. As of Season 9.5, she has eight other skins, with Goddess of Thunder serving as her only other Legendary cosmetic. Frustration grew when Sacred Skies was revealed as an Epic cosmetic while the game’s other female swimsuit outfits were given Legendary status.

A post from MJay on X called attention to the rarity difference and quickly passed 50,000 likes in less than 12 hours. The reaction reflected a wider complaint that Storm has not received the same level of attention as other characters when it comes to premium cosmetics.

What Marvel Rivals is changing for Sacred Skies

In an official Marvel Rivals statement on X, the team confirmed four changes:

  • Sacred Skies will move from Epic rarity to Legendary rarity.
  • The cosmetic will receive a new lobby animation and an updated MVP animation.
  • The cosmetic will receive an improved Ultimate effect.
  • The price will remain at $16, and anyone who purchases the cosmetic will receive the upgrade at no extra cost.

Legendary cosmetics usually cost about $22, so Storm’s upgrade will not come with an extra charge. Marvel Rivals also said that more Legendary cosmetics for Storm are planned for later in 2026. The team did not provide a date for the Sacred Skies changes and asked players to be patient while the work is completed.

The statement also addressed the tone of the reaction, reiterating that harassment aimed at staff is not acceptable. The rarity upgrade answers the immediate complaint, although the wider discussion has included other Black characters, such as Blade and Black Panther, who players feel deserve more attention in the game’s higher-tier cosmetic lineup.

Sacred Skies is scheduled to appear as part of the six-skin Summer Festival Vol. 2 lineup on August 13, 2026, and will remain available until September 11. The original reveal trailer is also available below.
