Konami Wants Silent Hill to Become a Yearly Horror Fixture
Motoi Okamoto said many unannounced projects are in development, with Silent Hill: Townfall scheduled for September 24, 2026.

Konami wants to make Silent Hill a regular annual presence, with franchise producer Motoi Okamoto saying the publisher hopes to release a new game every year. Konami is also working on many unannounced projects, though none of them have been named yet.
Speaking through an interpreter at Gamescom 2026, Okamoto told GamesRadar+, “Our aim is to, hopefully, have an annual release of new games.” That wording presents the yearly cadence as a goal rather than a confirmed release schedule. Konami has not announced a calendar for reaching it.
Silent Hill’s future will move beyond one setting
Okamoto also wants each team working on Silent Hill to shape the series around the environments and storytelling styles that suit its project. He warned that staying focused on the same American setting could eventually exhaust the available narrative possibilities and cause player fatigue.
Silent Hill f already offers an example of that direction with its Japanese setting, while Silent Hill: Townfall moves the series to Scotland. Neither project returns to the familiar foggy American mountain town, but Silent Hill f still keeps the identity that players associate with the franchise.
That approach gives Konami room to take the franchise in different directions. Every main Silent Hill game released or announced during the 2020s has come from a developer outside Konami, following the end of the company’s in-house Team Silent era.
Recent releases show the pace Konami is aiming for
Konami has already released Silent Hill 2 in 2024 and Silent Hill f in 2025. Silent Hill: Townfall is scheduled to follow on September 24, 2026, giving the series a recent yearly rhythm even though Okamoto described the broader plan as a goal rather than a confirmed schedule.
Beyond Townfall, Konami has also confirmed a remake of the original PlayStation 1 Silent Hill, with Bloober Team attached. Konami announced the remake in June 2025, but it has not shared further details about its release plans.
Townfall is the next dated Silent Hill release
The current lineup includes Silent Hill: Townfall, which is scheduled to arrive on PS5 and PC on September 24, 2026. The first-person horror game follows Simon through the fog-covered town of St. Amelia and comes from Screen Burn Interactive.
Earlier in August, Konami released nearly 20 minutes of Townfall gameplay footage covering puzzle solving and the first monster encounter. Our Townfall gameplay coverage collects those details.
Townfall is one example of what Konami’s broader plan could contain. Okamoto referred to “many types of games,” so the annual target does not necessarily point to a mainline entry every year. The remake of the original Silent Hill has no public release date, and the other projects remain without public names, details, or schedules.
Many Silent Hill projects remain unannounced
When asked about the projects that have not been revealed, Okamoto said many are still being worked on and that Konami could not discuss specifics. He added that the publisher wants to give players “more experiences” and different kinds of games that may deliver “positive kinds of surprises.”
Konami’s recent release rhythm is visible, but the full lineup is still unknown. Silent Hill: Townfall will arrive on September 24, while the remake and anything beyond it remain without public release dates.
