Icarus Week 248 Brings Scoria Deep Ore Veins to Every Map
New worlds will spawn the veins naturally, while existing prospects need the Deep Cycler to generate them.

Icarus Week 248 expands Scoria Deep Ore Veins beyond Prometheus, bringing the resource to every map in the survival game. Newly created worlds will generate the veins naturally, while existing prospects will need the Deep Cycler to add them.
RocketWerkz also addressed the long-running Ghost Fires problem, where flames could look active on a client after the server had already extinguished them. The current fix removes the lingering fire particles, although a complete fix for the underlying server-client desynchronization is planned for the coming weeks. RocketWerkz detailed the changes in its Week 248 Steam announcement.
Scoria Deep Ore Veins reach every map
Scoria Deep Ore Veins had been exclusive to Prometheus, but Week 248 makes them available across all prospects and outposts. On a new world, players will find the deposits as they move through the map. Existing worlds require the Deep Cycler, which was introduced in the Week 325 announcement, to generate the veins.
That change gives players on older maps access to the resource and the technologies tied to it without starting over on Prometheus.

Icarus limits the visible impact of Ghost Fires
Fire in Icarus is simulated through heat transfer and thermodynamics rather than being treated as a simple visual effect. The server and each client run parts of that simulation independently, with state updates keeping them aligned while avoiding the need to replicate every flammable object and fire instance.
That networking approach could sometimes skip an intermediate state change. When it did, a client could keep displaying flames even though the server had registered the fire as extinguished. Week 248 now cleans up those particles when the server confirms that the fire is out. The change is cosmetic for now, so it hides the most obvious symptom without fixing the desynchronization itself.

Other player-facing fixes include corrected Forest Wolf fur after skinning, the return of the original Gold and Sulfur icons for easier identification, smoother sunrise and sunset shadow movement through more frequent Sun and Moon position updates, and a correction for the Piglet taxidermy knife reward.
Workshop Battery Bank arrives next week
Next week, the orbital Workshop will add the purchasable Workshop Battery Bank. It will arrive pre-charged and let players recharge tools while away from base, working much like the hydrazine and oil canisters already available through the Workshop.
