Halls of Torment’s Oct. 29 Patch Caps Blood Apostle Bonuses

Mark of Sacrifice now has bonus ceilings, and repeated sacrifices can no longer generate unlimited extra projectiles.

Halls of Torment‘s Oct. 29 patch puts a ceiling on the Blood Apostle’s Mark of Sacrifice bonuses and caps extra projectiles from repeated sacrifices. Chasing Carrots says the changes address performance problems from late-game combinations in The Lost Archives.

Mark of Sacrifice still boosts one random stat when the Blood Apostle sacrifices HP, but the bonuses now have limits: Damage and Crit Chance cap at +50%, while Attack Speed and Multistrike cap at +25%. A HUD icon now tracks the buff, and its tooltip shows the current bonuses.

The patch follows Halls of Torment’s Oct. 27 update, which changed DLC artifact drops and fixed ability behavior. This time, the main performance fix caps bonus projectiles from Bloodcrystal Splinters and Blood Lightning, which could otherwise accumulate without limit. The update also fixes a performance spike from bursts of Sanguine Grips sacrifices.

Halls of Torment Patch Notes for Oct. 29, 2026

Balance & Changes

  • Mark of Sacrifice (Blood Apostle): Sacrificing HP still boosts one random stat, but the bonus now has diminishing returns instead of growing forever.
    • Damage and Crit Chance go up to +50%. Attack Speed and Multistrike go up to +25%.
    • The mark now shows a buff icon in the HUD. Its tooltip lists your current bonuses.
  • Enlightenment: The broken “Mastery” trait variants were removed from the trait pool.

Bug Fixes

  • Bloodcrystal Splinters / Blood Lightning: Bonus projectiles from repeated sacrifices (e.g. Sanguine Pendulum echoes) could pile up without limit and heavily slow down the game. They are now capped.
  • Sanguine Grips: Bursts of sacrifices no longer cause a performance spike.
  • Enlightenment – Manifold Wisdom: Gave a flat +0.15 instead of +15%. Fixed.
  • Judging Light: Court of Light and Final Verdict now count as Ability damage, so Ability bonuses apply to them.
  • Blood Rite:
    • Now counts as Ability damage.
    • Sage now gets the extra upgrade when Blood Rite is the main ability.
  • Mark of Lords: Each shard you collect now counts as 2 for shard quests, matching the 2 shards you receive.
