Chasing Carrots has completed QA and localization for Halls of Torment‘s upcoming The Lost Archives DLC and will announce its release date later this week. In its September 28 Steam announcement, the developer also confirmed that the experimental branch will update next week with bug fixes, features, and balance changes for the base game and Boglands.
The date announcement does not mean the DLC will launch this week. It will give players the missing timing for the expansion and its accompanying free update, which remain upcoming.
The new preview follows an earlier Blood Apostle preview that covered Kill Mode and the planned Fragile and Affliction changes. The latest details focus on repeatable weekly challenges, expanded records, and the second new Archives character.
Weekly challenges will standardize each attempt
Every week, players will receive a different challenge built around reaching the highest possible score. The stage, mode, and artifacts will be fixed, while the same randomized spawn seed will apply across attempts for that week. Torment Shards will be disabled, although some events and item drops can still vary. Loot from breakable objects will remain deterministic.

Challenges will track either Best Time or Most Kills depending on the selected mode. Chasing Carrots is also working on a Steam-only ranking for now, showing the percentile reached by a player’s score, time, or kill count.
Monsters from other halls can appear during a challenge, but the random monster and artifact pool will come from the base game so the feature will not require the DLC. Players will still be able to use new characters and items.
The Scriptor will display more personal records
A new option in the Additional Information settings will let players track records for characters, damage sources, and maps during a run. The Scriptor in the camp will display those records alongside the profile statistics the game has stored since version 1.0, including level-ups, dungeon time, and enemies defeated.

Characters and abilities will receive damage records, while maps will track fastest times, highest kill counts, and Torment Scores. The developer is using Score instead of flat damage for comparisons because it accounts for enemy health and difficulty. The score calculation will also be adjusted during a run, and Chasing Carrots said the system is harder to manipulate with cheating tools than raw damage totals.
The Inquisitor builds around Judgement
The Lost Archives will introduce the Inquisitor as its second new character. He uses a defensive retaliation style centered on the Judgement mechanic, pushing enemies back and applying Judgement stacks whenever he takes damage.
Enemies carrying Judgement will take direct magic damage when struck by Execution attacks, including the Inquisitor’s base attack. Triggering the stacks removes them, while Judgement can jump to nearby enemies when a target dies without receiving the effect.
The Archives content will also add abilities, ability upgrades, and items designed around retaliation and Judgement. Examples shown in the preview include Shields of Vengeance, Executioner’s Tabard with the Zealotry modifier, and Martyr’s Seal with the Penance modifier.
