GTA 6 footage leak may date to 2023 ahead of Rockstar’s August 27 Extended Look
NatetheHate places the clips more than a year back, while alleged leakers claim their chat logs date the gameplay to 2023.

Gameplay clips attributed to Grand Theft Auto VI have been circulating online, but claims about their age suggest they may not represent Rockstar Games’ current build. The footage surfaced just eight days before the developer’s scheduled August 27 Extended Look.
The clips include characters walking along a beach, driving, fighting, destroying vehicles, and moving through a map that appears similar to Leonida. Some of the uploads have already faced DMCA takedowns, making the footage harder to track down as questions about its age continue.
NatetheHate, who was not presented as the person behind the leak, said in a ResetEra thread that the “footage is over a year old.”
Alleged GTA 6 leakers later backed up that timeline in screenshotted chat logs, claiming the gameplay came from 2023. They also said as many as four more videos could appear over the next few days.
If that timeline is accurate, the clips should not be treated as a direct preview of the finished game. Footage from a 2023 build could look quite different from the material Rockstar plans to show closer to launch, especially when the unofficial clips are a scattered collection of gameplay moments rather than a prepared presentation.
Rockstar’s official GTA 6 footage arrives on August 27
The leak surfaced just before Rockstar’s August 27 Extended Look. The presentation will premiere on Netflix at 3 p.m. ET, then appear at 9 p.m. ET through the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI website.
That presentation should offer a newer and more controlled look at the game than the clips currently passing around social media. Until Rockstar shows more, the leaked footage is best viewed as evidence of an older stage of development rather than a firm indication of how Grand Theft Auto VI will look when it launches.
