Grand Theft Auto VI’s Extended Look Will Arrive on Netflix and YouTube August 27

Netflix will show the extended look at 3 p.m. ET, while Rockstar's YouTube channel and the game's website will follow at 9 p.m. ET; the presentation's runtime remains unknown.

Rockstar Games announced that Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will premiere on Netflix Thursday, August 27, 2026, with the full schedule detailed in its Grand Theft Auto VI Newswire announcement. Netflix will carry the presentation at 3 p.m. ET.

The presentation will provide the first extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay following the trailers released so far. Rockstar released the first trailer in December 2023 and the second in May 2025, and neither included actual gameplay footage. Rockstar and Netflix have not announced how long the extended look will run.

It will then arrive at 9 p.m. ET on August 27 through the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI website. That gives viewers a six-hour gap between the Netflix premiere and the online release.

The first showing requires a Netflix account. Viewers who do not want to pay for Netflix can wait for the YouTube release six hours later.

Netflix plans for the early showing

Netflix’s listed monthly options are:

  • Standard with ads: $8.99 / £5.99 per month, with up to 1080p quality
  • Standard without ads: $19.99 / £12.99 per month, with up to 1080p quality
  • Premium: $26.99 / £18.99 per month, without ads and with up to 4K quality plus HDR support

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has described Netflix as a strong partner for the presentation, although the companies have not disclosed the arrangement’s terms. He said viewers will understand why the collaboration made sense once the extended look airs.

The partnership also builds on Netflix Games’ existing connection to the series. GTA Trilogy has passed 30 million downloads on Netflix Games since arriving on the service in 2024.

Grand Theft Auto VI’s console launch is scheduled for November 19

The announcement also confirms that Grand Theft Auto VI is coming to PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S on November 19. Rockstar is directing players to the Grand Theft Auto VI website for preorder information.

In a Bloomberg interview, Zelnick said Take-Two expects the install base around Grand Theft Auto VI‘s launch to remain in line with the company’s original expectations. He identified a smaller-than-expected hardware audience as the factor that would cause concern.
