Grand Theft Auto VI’s August 27 Look Will Be Only the Start of Its Marketing Campaign

Strauss Zelnick reportedly said more promotional material will follow before the game's planned November 19, 2026, launch.

Grand Theft Auto VI‘s August 27 extended look will not be the final major marketing beat before launch, according to Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick in an GamesIndustry.biz interview. Zelnick called the presentation “one of the hors d’oeuvres” and added, “There’s appetizers, main course and dessert to follow.” More promotional material is expected to follow during the months leading up to release.

Zelnick reportedly framed the upcoming presentation as only one part of the campaign, with additional material still planned afterward. The comments suggest that Take-Two views the extended look as an early stage of the broader buildup rather than the campaign’s main conclusion.

The remarks point toward more announcements or promotional releases arriving across September, October, and November, but they do not identify what those pieces will contain. Rockstar Games has not detailed the contents of that later campaign.

Zelnick also described Grand Theft Auto VI preorders as “unprecedented and astonishing.” Take-Two has not shared a specific preorder total, and Zelnick cautioned that preorders can be canceled and do not yet represent completed unit sales.

The August 27 presentation remains the next major date for fans waiting to see more of the sequel. Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will premiere on Netflix at 3 p.m. ET on August 27, 2026, before arriving online at 9 p.m. ET through Rockstar’s channels. That creates a six-hour gap between the two showings, and the earlier premiere requires a Netflix account. It is set to provide the first extended gameplay look after the earlier trailers focused on the game’s setting, characters, and cinematic footage. Its release schedule, including the planned Netflix and YouTube showings, is detailed in the Grand Theft Auto VI extended-look schedule.

Take-Two’s current launch plan still places Grand Theft Auto VI on November 19, 2026, leaving roughly three months for the remaining campaign to unfold. The company’s position on the release date was covered in the update on the game’s launch plan.
