Forza Horizon 6 is selling fast, but Game Pass is still taking a slice

Alinea Analytics says the racer has already generated about $325 million, helped by 1.7 million early access buyers and a 42% Xbox-side sales share.

Forza Horizon 6 has sold 4.9 million copies since its May 19 global launch, according to analyst Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics. In a new Alinea Insight Newsletter entry, Elliott said the racing game has brought in about $325 million in roughly a week.

The early access window did plenty of work too. Elliott said 1.7 million players paid to jump in on May 15 before the wider release.

Xbox also accounted for more of the business than the usual Game Pass debate might suggest. Elliott’s data puts Xbox players across console, PC, and cloud at 42% of copies sold, or almost 2.1 million units, versus Steam’s 2.8 million. He also said 51% of the game’s total revenue came from Xbox, with Steam at 49%, helped by higher regional pricing on the Xbox side.

Even with that kind of momentum, Game Pass still changed the math. Elliott said more than 3 million players accessed Forza Horizon 6 through the subscription service instead of buying it outright, which reduced direct sales even if Microsoft can point to longer-term subscription value.
