Euro Truck Simulator 2 is heading north for a stop in Akureyri

SCS Software's Iceland DLC will route trucks through the Ring Road, the harbor district, and landmarks such as Akureyrarkirkja and the Hof Cultural and Conference Centre.

SCS Software has turned its latest Euro Truck Simulator 2 update post toward Akureyri, one of the towns players will be able to drive through when the Iceland DLC on Steam arrives. The northern city will sit on the map as more than a scenic stop, with port traffic, industrial routes, and a few familiar landmarks folded into the expansion.

Akureyri is Iceland’s fourth-largest city and is often called the Capital of the North. It sits on the shores of Eyjafjörður, the country’s longest fjord, with the Glerá River running through town and snow-covered mountains framing the skyline. The history runs back to the 9th century, but the city grew into a commercial center in the 18th century thanks to its harbor and fishing trade.

Route 1, also known as the Ring Road, cuts through the center of town, and side roads branch toward the harbor, industrial areas, and local food-processing facilities. SCS says players will be able to haul cargo to a marine logistics center, a shipyard, and an electronics manufacturing depot, which should give the area a little more bite than a simple scenic drive.

The DLC will also include Akureyrarkirkja, the church designed in 1940 by Guðjón Samúelsson, along with the Hof Cultural and Conference Centre, the Akureyri Art Museum, and the local whale watching center. SCS also teased the idea of buying a garage in town and turning it into a northern Iceland branch for your company.

If you want to keep tabs on the expansion, SCS also linked the Iceland DLC page on Steam for wishlisting.
