EA SPORTS FC 27 Team Is Holding Off on Core Gameplay Changes for Now

EA is holding off on changes to EA SPORTS FC 27’s core gameplay as its developers monitor player feedback and match data. The team is investigating concerns involving fullback positioning, goals from kick-off, interceptions, and low driven shots, but says those topics do not mean adjustments are already planned.

EA outlined its approach in the Gameplay Developer Launch Update on Steam. The team says players are adapting to the greater emphasis on manual defending and trying the updated corners, two parts of the gameplay changes covered in an earlier FC 27 gameplay deep dive. EA wants to give players time to settle in before making changes that could alter how matches feel.

Fullbacks dropping too early and breaking the defensive line have drawn a large share of player feedback. EA is looking into why it happens and whether a fix is needed, but will continue investigating before making adjustments.

The team is also tracking conversations about goals scored straight from kick-off. Early data has caught its attention, though EA is still watching to see whether the issue develops into a broader pattern. On interceptions, EA says its goal is to reward defenders who manually read passing lanes, while acknowledging that players with lower defensive Attributes may be intercepting passes too effectively.

Low driven shots, particularly toward the near post, have also come up in feedback. EA says it is satisfied with the current balance between shooting and goalkeeping, while continuing to watch for outliers.

Outside core gameplay tuning, the developers are investigating reports of referees making the wrong call after certain challenges. EA also plans to host a gameplay Q&A in the official EA SPORTS FC Discord, with a date and time announcement still to come. Players can continue sending feedback through the FC 27 Player Feedback Portal.
