Dune: Awakening 1.5.3.6 Hotfix Will Add BattlEye-Free Steam Launching
The client-side update also fixes failed autosave recovery and an ornithopter that could spawn in the air after map travel.

Dune: Awakening’s 1.5.3.6 hotfix will add a Steam launch option to run without BattlEye for single-player and private or self-hosted servers that do not require the anti-cheat. It also addresses stability, failed autosave recovery, and an ornithopter spawn issue. Funcom’s Steam announcement says the hotfix requires a client-side download. The preceding 1.5.3.5 hotfix added mirrored Sardaukar building pieces and broadened Filmic Archive armor customization, along with save and transfer fixes.
The BattlEye-free option has a clear limit: players still need BattlEye to join Steam multiplayer servers that use it. Trying to connect to one without BattlEye will produce an error. If the download does not appear automatically, restart Steam. Servers will be coming back up shortly.
One fix addresses autosave recovery failures. Another prevents the ornithopter from appearing in the air instead of on the ground in single-player after traveling to Hagga Basin or the Deep Desert from the Overland Map.
