Diablo 4 Season 15 Will Send Players After Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto With Cain’s Help

Diablo 4 Season 15 will bring Diablo himself into Sanctuary on September 15, with help from the lost soul of Deckard Cain. Blizzard revealed the season’s theme during the Diablo segment of BlizzCon, giving the series’ 30th anniversary a direct antagonist from its own history.

Called Season of Hell’s Legacy, the new season will celebrate 30 years of Diablo by returning to familiar characters, enemies, locations, and loot. Blizzard’s announcement describes a seasonal questline that revisits moments from earlier games through recreated content in Diablo 4. Memories of legendary heroes and notorious enemies will add further context to Sanctuary’s past, while new Legendary items will draw inspiration from earlier games.

Season 15 has also been tied to a separate Character Rebirth feature for Eternal characters, but the season’s central story is clearly focused on the series’ past. Cain’s return gives that theme a recognizable guide, even as the conflict reaches back to some of Diablo’s oldest tragedies.

Cain’s return connects Season 15 to Aidan’s story

Aidan, the Warrior protagonist from the original Diablo, stands at the center of the Dark Wanderer’s history. He is also the son of King Leoric, the character better known as the Skeleton King.

At the end of Diablo, Aidan drives Diablo’s soulstone into his own forehead in an attempt to contain the demon. Diablo 2 later presents him as the Dark Wanderer, with Diablo’s influence eventually transforming him into the Lord of Terror. Blizzard has not confirmed whether Season 15 will let players directly encounter Aidan, but Cain’s role gives the storyline a clear connection to that earlier chapter.

Players will face all three Prime Evils

Season 15 will also bring Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto into the same seasonal conflict. Players will confront all three Prime Evils and reclaim splinters of their souls, gaining access to part of their demonic power.

That power will come with a steep cost. Blizzard has teased the danger attached to accepting these gifts, leaving the season’s main tension somewhere between using the Prime Evils’ strength and surviving its consequences.

Season 15 adds new progression and rewards

Beyond its story, Season of Hell’s Legacy will add new seasonal progression, rewards, skills, and cosmetics. Blizzard is also planning more endgame options, additional customization, a collection of Horadric Cube crafting recipes, and quality-of-life improvements for the broader experience.

Free items will also be available through Twitch Drops and Xbox Game Pass unlocks, giving players more ways to collect rewards during the anniversary season.

Diablo 4 is coming to Nintendo Switch 2

Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo 4 will come to Nintendo Switch 2. The new platform will expand the game’s reach as the anniversary season brings its biggest villains together in Sanctuary.

The Amazon is planned for 2027

Blizzard also announced the next new class for Diablo 4. The Amazon is planned for the first half of 2027, bringing back the bow-wielding class known from Diablo 2.

Alongside the bow, the Amazon will introduce the Javelin as a new weapon. Gameplay footage shows the class using it against demonic and sea-themed enemies, offering an early look at how the returning hero will fight in Diablo 4.

Blizzard also announced Diablo 5 at BlizzCon 2026. The sequel is not replacing Diablo 4, which is still receiving seasonal content and new playable additions. Season of Hell’s Legacy will begin on September 15, putting that ongoing support alongside one of the franchise’s most direct celebrations of its past.
