Counter-Strike 2 Update Fixes Grenade Clipping and Expands Map Scripting

Valve also updated Shelter, cleaned up several Cache issues, and added new hooks for bombs, grenades, weapons, and defusers.

Valve published a new Counter-Strike 2 update on August 3, 2026. The patch fixes a grenade collision issue that allowed grenades to pass through level geometry, refreshes parts of Cache and Shelter, and adds a large group of scripting functions for map creators.

The Cache changes cover map gaps, collision problems, flickering assets, and a boost position in Outside A. Shelter has also been brought up to its latest Community Workshop version, with the related Update Notes available through Steam.

Map scripting receives the largest batch of additions. Creators can now work with new events and functions tied to player traces, weapon pickups and drops, grenade projectiles, bomb explosions, planted C4 states, and defuser information. The update also fixes script reload behavior for Instance.RegisterCheatCommand and deprecates bounces from the Instance.OnGrenadeBounce event.

The complete changes appear in Valve’s Steam announcement.

Counter-Strike 2

Counter-Strike 2

Counter-Strike 2 is a free-to-play multiplayer tactical first-person shooter developed and published by Valve. Released in September 2023, it is the fifth main entry in the Counter-Strike series and serves as a direct replacement for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on Steam. Two teams, Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists, compete in objective-based rounds across modes such as bomb defusal and hostage rescue. Built on the Source 2 engine, the game introduced volumetric smoke physics, revised weapon handling, and a new sub-tick server architecture. It inherited all cosmetic items from its predecessor and features both a map-specific Competitive mode and a numerically ranked Premier mode.
