Borderlands: Dead ECHOs Episode 5 Teases a Bigger Crew for Watts and Junie

The latest chapter hints at robotic arrivals and an event that could change the direction of the limited series.

Borderlands: Dead ECHOs is teasing a bigger crew for Watts and Junie in Episode 5. Gearbox’s latest Steam announcement points to new arrivals—including robots—and hints that an event this week could affect the direction of the wider saga.

The reveal keeps its specifics under wraps. It indicates that Watts and Junie’s unusual partnership may soon have robotic company, while an undisclosed event could alter the story beyond this chapter. Gearbox has not identified the new arrivals or explained what the teased turning point will be.

Watts and Junie are still in trouble

Episode 5 follows the oxygen crisis that left the pair fighting for air in Episode 4, as DAHL Management continued its pursuit. The next chapter now appears ready to expand the cast around the duo while pushing their dangerous situation forward.

Dead ECHOs is Gearbox’s first scripted narrative podcast, presented as a dark comedy set in the chaotic Borderlands universe. Watts works as a DAHL ECHO Operator and supplements his modest income by pulling secrets from undeliverable ECHO logs and selling them. Junie, a curious stranger with ambitious plans, helps him escape a dangerous situation before turning their small operation toward a Robin Hood-style scheme.

Their business has attracted mercenaries, outlaws, and DAHL’s corporate hit squad. Rogue executive Vivian Proctor leads that corporate threat, leaving the pair with plenty of enemies before the new arrivals enter the picture.
