Bethesda says The Elder Scrolls 6 plans are still intact after Xbox layoffs
The studio also said its Oblivion Remastered team is working toward the August Switch 2 launch and hopes to bring some of those improvements to PC and consoles.

Bethesda says the recent Xbox layoffs have not changed its plans for The Elder Scrolls 6. The studio gave the brief update after Xbox announced 3,200 job cuts, with 1,600 layoffs already completed and another 1,600 still to come.
In response to questions from YouTuber MrMattyPlays, Bethesda said, “The roadmap [for TES6] is unaffected.” The studio did not provide a release window, new footage, or any additional details about the long-awaited RPG.
The statement arrives after Bethesda said that most of its development staff is focused on The Elder Scrolls 6. The game was announced in 2018 and still has no public launch date.
Oblivion Remastered updates are still planned
Bethesda also addressed The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, which has received little public attention since two patches followed its release last year. The Unreal Engine 5 remake continues to have performance problems and bugs, but the studio said work on the game has not ended.
For now, the remaster team is focused on the upcoming Switch 2 launch in August. Bethesda said that version includes optimizations it hopes to bring to the console and PC editions later. The studio did not share a date for those improvements.
Bethesda wants to communicate more openly
Bethesda also repeated its plan to share more information with fans. The studio said players and creators had asked for a clearer view of its projects, adding that separate announcements can make it harder to understand what the company is working on.
“All of our fans and plenty of creators have been asking for us to lay out our road map for a long time,” Bethesda said. It added that this change in communication had been under consideration for some time and was not being imposed by Xbox boss Asha Sharma.
The latest comments offer reassurance about The Elder Scrolls 6, but they do not change the game’s uncertain release timeline. They also leave Oblivion Remastered players waiting for more information about when the planned PC and console optimizations will arrive.
