BC.Game parts ways with two starters after a rough stretch

Christopher "MUTiRiS" Fernandes and António "aragornN" Barbosa were moved to the bench after a four-month run in BC.Game's starting five.

BC.Game has benched Christopher “MUTiRiS” Fernandes and António “aragornN” Barbosa, ending their four-month run in the starting lineup. The move came after a difficult stretch for the team and followed its early exit from PGL Bucharest.

The lineup managed one series win at the event, and that came against Voca, a team that was playing with a stand-in. Beyond that, BC.Game’s recent results had not given much reason for optimism.

In a statement, BC.Game CEO Ali Muhanned said the pair had been moved to the inactive roster as part of a planned roster evaluation. He added that the team had not yet reached the level its fans expected and said the organization was committed to taking the necessary steps to compete at the top end.

The roster change was not exactly a shock. BC.Game had struggled for results since adding the former SAW core of MUTiRiS, aragornN, and Adones “krazy” Nobre at the start of the year.

There was a brief bright spot at IEM Krakow, where BC.Game made it through Stage 1 with wins over Legacy and Ninjas in Pyjamas. After that, the results fell off again, including a poor run at lower-tier LAN events and a pullout from ROG Journey Spring at the end of March in an effort to fix the team’s chemistry.

That break did not turn things around at PGL Bucharest. The team again managed only one series win, and MUTiRiS later described his role as difficult, saying he felt like he was “more the IGL, not the captain.”

BC.Game now has less than a month to sort out the roster before IEM Atlanta, which begins on May 11. After that, the team will head to China for the CS Asia Championships.

The remaining roster is Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, Denis “electroNic” Sharipov, Adones “krazy” Nobre, and coach Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas.
