AzurPoly Introduces a Fully Licensed Dassault Rafale C for Flight Simulator 2024
Developed with JFEXP over more than two years, the aircraft features custom fly-by-wire, terrain-following, avionics, and payload systems.
AzurPoly has introduced the Dassault Rafale C for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The project, developed with JFEXP, is described as the first officially licensed Dassault Aviation Rafale C made for the simulator. An interview with Théo from AzurPoly is included in the official Microsoft Flight Simulator feature.
Development lasted more than two years and covered far more than the aircraft’s exterior model. AzurPoly built a custom fly-by-wire system, a functional terrain-following system, a complete avionics suite, and payload configuration options for the Rafale.

Low-level flight is a major focus
AzurPoly said the terrain-following system was one of the hardest parts of the project. The Rafale can fly at around 200 feet above ground level at speeds of up to 600 knots, allowing the pilot to release the controls while the system handles the low-level flight path.
The team described this as a feature that is not currently available on another aircraft in the simulator. It required the developers to push the game’s flight systems while keeping the result functional and believable in play.
The Rafale’s delta wing and canards also shaped the flight model. According to AzurPoly, that layout gives the aircraft strong maneuverability and quick responses, which the team worked to reproduce through its custom fly-by-wire setup. Several pilots, including experts from Fly And Fight, provided feedback during development.
AzurPoly’s flight simulation roots
AzurPoly was founded in 2020 after the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, but the team’s history goes back much further. Its members first met around 15 years ago as teenagers playing FSX before working together on freeware scenery.
Those early projects helped the group build experience with textures, model optimization, and other development techniques. When Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 arrived, the team reunited and began working toward larger projects. The officially licensed Rafale became a natural choice for the French aviation fans at the studio.
AzurPoly also showcased its first Rafale reveal trailer at the official Rafale booth during the Paris Air Show. The team credited the broader flight simulation community, pilots, and other contributors for helping bring the aircraft to the simulator.
