Xbox CEO Asha Sharma says Battle.net will keep expanding, but its growth will remain selective rather than turn the launcher into a direct Steam competitor. During an internal town hall, she said the storefront was already nearing Steam in user retention, according to Windows Central’s account of the meeting.
Battle.net’s catalog reflects that distinction. Blizzard games such as World of Warcraft and Diablo IV remain its center, alongside Call of Duty entries and Xbox Game Studios releases including Avowed and Sea of Thieves. Sharma said the CD Projekt Red partnership would grow too, with new additions handled for the communities involved.
That partnership has already brought The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered to Battle.net, where it launched on September 29. The upcoming Songs of the Past expansion is due on Battle.net in 2027, and buyers will also receive a Geralt-inspired Diablo IV cosmetic.
