Bungie is preparing for its next big release, and that is Lightfall, bringing turbulence to Destiny 2 by shutting down its servers in preparation for the release. If you see problems and cannot hop into the game, this is connected to the server maintenance, which is tied to the Lightfall release.
While further details are missing, this is very well connected to the new expansion, rather than the ordinary weekly maintenance. Destiny 2 is taking a break from 4PM GMT / 5 PM CET/ 8AM PST / 11 AM ET until tomorrow (February 28), when they’ll be back online at 5PM GMT / 6 PM CET/ 9AM PST 12 PM ET.
The maintenance will end with the launch of the new Lightfall expansion. As the expansion’s Steam page details, Lightfall will take fans on the planet of Neptune, with a new campaign where players will need to defend the city from an invading army led by Emperor Calus.
