Marathon is getting a weeklong free run on PS5 this June

Bungie will open Marathon to every PS5 player from June 2 through June 9, and Season 2 will add a new map, a new shell class, and gameplay tweaks.

Bungie is giving Marathon a free week on PS5 from June 2 through June 9, and players will not need PS Plus to jump in.

The timing lines up with Season 2, which will bring a new map, a new shell character class, and a set of seasonal challenges. Bungie is also resetting gear progression for everyone, so new players should not be thrown into the deep end against heavily stocked inventories right away.

There are a few other changes in the mix too. Bungie says faction progression will move faster, the Vault will be larger, some of the more frustrating contracts will be smoothed out, and more quality-of-life changes will arrive as part of the Open Play Week. Players who try the game during that window will also be able to carry their Season 2 progress into the full game.
