The developer of Fortnite, Epic Games, has decided to ban Russia from participating in Fortnite competitive tournaments that provide cash prizes. The rule applies solely to cash prizes and does not involve non-cash tournaments, and the restriction becomes effective on March 11.
Furthermore, the company stated that March 22 is the last resort for Russian players to go through the prize verification process for any previous tournaments and claim their righteously earned funds. The news comes from Fortnite’s official website, in which Epic Games claimed the following:
Effective as of March 11, Russia will be added to the list of countries that are ineligible to participate in Fortnite Competitive tournaments with cash prizes. Players residing in Russia will still be able to compete in non-cash tournaments and earn in-game cosmetic prizes.
Players residing in Russia must complete the prize verification process for any previous tournaments and claim funds from Epic’s payment provider before March 22, 2022.
If cash prizes remain unclaimed after March 22, 2022, they will be frozen until Epic’s payment service provider is able to resume prizing support for players residing in Russia.
