It’s a good day, as Rockstar Games finally confirms the development of Grand Theft Auto 6. Previously unknown but suspected, the development of GTA 6 has always been a bothering question. On Friday, the company stated that the development of GTA 6 is “well underway” in a community blog post, without going into specifics.
GTA 6 is supposed to be set in a modern-day Vice City, as previously confirmed by some credible leakers. In today’s community post, the company also stated that GTA Online is getting improvements. Some of those will be the ability to skip the GTA V Story mode prologue before heading into GTA Online on both PS5 and Xbox Series, which has been quite a pain over the past.
Obviously, Rockstar Games is far from ready to talk about GTA 6, leaving fans with a blaring announcement that the next entry in the GTA series is in development so that everyone can breathe freely. The hype has already started bubbling around, as fans of the franchise are more than happy to find this out.
Below you can find Rockstar Games’ complete statement regarding Grand Theft Auto 6.
With the unprecedented longevity of GTAV, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered — and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway. We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.
We all knew that there would be a new GTA eventually, as it has been reported for quite some time now. The fact that the game continues to perform so well late into its lifespan (with 155 million copies sold) makes people believe this next proper entry won’t come anytime soon, though!
