The Stockade entrance is inside Stormwind, beside the canals north of the Mage Quarter. There is no cross-zone approach once you are in the city, which makes the prison a convenient meeting point for an Alliance group.
Location at a Glance

How to Reach the Entrance
- Enter Stormwind and head towards the canal bordering the Mage Quarter.
- Find the prison building around 42.0, 58.0 on the Stormwind City map.
- Go down into the Stockade entrance and cross the instance portal when your party is ready.
Alliance and Horde Travel
Alliance players can use Stormwind as their starting point, with the Trade District and Mage Quarter providing easy landmarks. Horde players would need to enter a hostile capital; this is not a practical routine dungeon trip for a levelling Horde party.
Before You Go
Keep the Stormwind City map open when following the coordinates. Elwynn Forest coordinates do not describe the prison door, and walking along the correct canal without entering the building will not take you into the instance.
Collect the available Stormwind prison quests before heading downstairs. If you are coming from the Deadmines quest chain, check its follow-up before organising the run rather than discovering the prerequisite after everyone has already zoned in.
