Windrose’s Ashlands Update Will Add a Faction Hub and New Sea Shanties
The planned refresh will also clean up the HUD and dialogue menus, with larger text options and more readable quest details.

Windrose’s upcoming Ashlands update will bring a new faction hub to the Adventure tab, refresh several everyday menus, and add sea shanties that players will need to find. Kraken Express outlined the planned changes in its Ashlands preview on Steam. Kraken Express first framed Ashlands as a broad expansion spanning a fourth biome, story progression, and ship and base systems in Ashlands development plan.
The HUD is being pared back so it stays readable when several notifications appear at once. The dialogue window and Adventure tab are also getting visual updates and navigation changes, with dialogue choices dimming after players have seen everything in their branches. Players will be able to choose regular or large dialogue text and adjust the background opacity behind it.

The new faction screen will gather each group’s shared, server-wide reputation, trade goods, and available quests in one place. Quest progress remains personal, so each player will see their own objectives. Kraken Express also created new splash art for faction leaders and left room on the screen for future additions.
New shanties will have to be discovered
Once the changes arrive, each shanty will have its own entry in the Curios section of the inventory. Players can read its lyrics and add it to or remove it from a playlist. Existing Early Access shanties will be available right away, and a Sing Along Mode setting will display lyrics on screen as a song plays.
Ashlands will add 10 more songs: Wellerman, Dead Horse, Spanish Ladies, Haul Away Joe, Randy Dandy Oh, Roll the Old Chariot, High Barbaree, Santy Anna, Lowlands Away, and Roll Boys Roll. Unlike the existing tracks, these will need to be found during play, and some may require a fight to claim.
The new songs will also join Windrose: Original Soundtrack on Steam, with the additions delivered automatically to current owners. The interface and music features are still in development and may change as work continues.
