Darktide’s Arcane Ruin Event Begins Alongside Hotfix 1.13.4 Rollout

Missions with the Hunted condition advance personal rewards, while damage dealt to Gormaggoth drives a separate community track.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide began its Arcane Ruin live event on October 22, and players can take part through November 5. The event sends squads into missions with the Hunted condition to fight Daemonhosts, while Hotfix 1.13.4 is rolling out across all platforms, according to Fatshark’s Steam announcement.

Daemonhost Gormaggoth is at the center of the event. Each time players kill one of its kin, the chance of Gormaggoth appearing increases. Killing Daemonhosts in Hunted missions advances a personal reward track with Dockets, Diamantine, Plasteel, and a new Weapon Charm.

There is also a community-wide tracker. Damage dealt to Gormaggoth contributes to shared progress, earning Dockets, Diamantine, and Plasteel for the playerbase while unlocking new lore stories written by Dan Abnett at each step. If players deal enough damage to kill Gormaggoth for good, the community will unlock a new Portrait frame.

Hotfix 1.13.4 addresses Vanguard health, several crashes, launcher problems, and a cosmetic clipping issue. For players on AMD RX 7000 series GPUs, the fix comes with a workaround: FSR 4.1.1 is disabled for RDNA3 GPUs on Windows 10.

Scab Vanguard & Dreg Vanguard: reduced their health back to their correct, intended values.
Fixed crash affecting players on AMD RX 7000 series GPUs. As a workaround, FSR 4.1.1 has been disabled for RDNA3 GPUs on Windows 10.
Fixed startup crash on Intel Arc GPUs linked to the XeSS module.
Fixed a crash that could occur when tracking any of the removed “The Depths Purge the Unclean” Penances
Fixed the launcher so that it doesn’t create a crash dump file on shutdown.
Fixed an issue where the launcher could block players from starting the game.

Cosmetic Fixes

Fixed some clipping with Drill Fatigues (Cadian 43rd, Broken Swords, XXXXL)

Known Issues

Scab and Dreg Vanguard enemies currently have slightly more health than intended.

Fatshark revisits earlier balance changes

Fatshark also addressed player feedback about corruption damage. Before Hotfix 1.13.3, corruption damage on its own could not kill a player. That protection was intended only for Grimoire damage, so the hotfix changed how other sources of corruption damage work. The studio acknowledged that many players relied on the previous behavior and said it will keep a close eye on the change.

The developer also explained the Servo-Skull’s Strength reduction from 160 to 100 in the Depths of the Damned update, version 1.13.0. The change was originally meant to arrive with Skitarii in version 1.12.0, but instead went live in 1.13.0. Fatshark says 100 is the intended Strength, though it is reconsidering whether the reduction was justified and weighing further balance changes to the Servo-Skull and Noospheric Command Talent.
