Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Will Offer 2 Prestige Paths, One That Keeps Unlocks
The full game adds a separate 70-level DMZ track, while Multiplayer progression ends at Level 55.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will make Prestige a choice between a traditional reset and keeping unlocked loadout content. Multiplayer progression runs to Level 55, while DMZ has its own 70-level track. Activision’s progression breakdown explains how those systems connect ahead of the game’s October 23 launch.
DMZ XP advances both the separate DMZ rank and the overall Level 1-55 player track. Multiplayer and Warzone XP do not count toward DMZ levels. Warzone will gain access to Modern Warfare 4’s level unlocks when Season 1 begins shortly after launch. The beta’s Level 30 cap gives way to 55 levels in the full game.

Prestige offers a reset or retained unlocks
Reaching Level 55 opens the first of 10 Prestige levels and a choice between Classic and Regular. Classic Prestige resets level unlocks and Create a Class progress, but grants a 20% XP boost, a Permanent Unlock Token for one loadout item, and bonus cosmetic rewards. Regular Prestige also returns a player to Level 1, but keeps level unlocks and Create a Class content.
Players can choose a track again when entering each new Prestige level. Most rewards are shared, though Classic has extras. The first Prestige’s rewards draw from the original Call of Duty (2003), including the Sandstorm Operator Skin as an instant reward and a Mosin-Nagant blueprint at Prestige Level 50. The two tracks offer different versions of that blueprint.
After all 10 Prestige levels, Prestige Master adds another 1,000 levels, with Prestige Legend waiting at Level 1,000. Legacy Prestige icons begin unlocking at Level 100 and return every 100 levels after that.
Camo progress spans modes, but weapon Prestige resets attachments
Weapon Camo progress carries across Multiplayer and DMZ, with Warzone joining the shared grind in Season 1. Each weapon has eight Military Camos tied to its level, followed by three weapon-specific Special Camo challenges. Completing a Special Camo adds it to a pool available for other weapons. Four Completionist Camos lead into separate Mastery grinds for Multiplayer and DMZ, with three Warzone Mastery Camos arriving in Season 1. Challenge requirements can differ by mode, and DMZ generally calls for more enemy kills than Multiplayer or Warzone.
Weapons have their own optional Prestige after reaching maximum level. Entering it resets the weapon to Level 1 and relocks most attachments, but keeps Apex Attachments, blueprint attachments, and weapon customization. Shared attachments earned on other weapons stay unlocked. Reaching maximum level again moves the weapon into Master Prestige without another level reset, where players can earn two more Pyroclast Camos at Master Prestige Levels 150 and 250.
Digital pre-orders and pre-purchases will open DMZ Early Access on October 20. Weapon levels, attachments, and Camo progress earned there will be available in Multiplayer when the full game launches on October 23.
