Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Details 33 Operators and 33 Launch Weapons
Create-a-Class opens at Player Level 4, with launch weapon unlocks continuing through the Cronen Squall at Level 55.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, 2026, with 33 Operators and 33 weapons for Multiplayer and DMZ. Activision’s launch breakdown also details a custom-class system that opens at Player Level 4, plus progression paths for weapons, equipment, and Perks. The weapon unlock track runs from Level 4 to Level 55, so opening Create-a-Class gives players a starting arsenal, not the full roster.
Players can choose a different Operator for each loadout. Min-Hee, CTSFO, Mil-Sim KSK Arctic, UCTF, and Army SF Airborne are available immediately. Hunter Killer comes with a digital Standard or Vault Edition preorder, while the Vault Edition also unlocks Ghost, Blix, Valeria, Price, SAS, South Korean SF, COM FST, and KSK Amphibious.
Eight more Operators unlock through campaign missions, including Cho after Mayhem and Park after Decapitation. DMZ progression awards Reece at Level 4, Coffey at Level 9, Simone at Level 15, and Hector at Level 19. Multiplayer challenges unlock Blackwell, Jae, Velikan, Valen, and Zimo through different kill objectives. Kyle is tied to the Call of Duty Endowment Valor Pack, while Ju Kwon’s unlock condition is marked [CLASSIFIED].
Custom classes open at Player Level 4
Before reaching Player Level 4, players use Default Loadouts. Create-a-Class then opens with 33 weapons divided into 24 Primary Weapons, 8 Secondary Weapons, and the FSS Carbon Edge 1095 melee weapon. The Primary lineup includes 8 assault rifles, 5 submachine guns, 2 shotguns, 3 light machine guns, 3 marksman rifles, and 3 sniper rifles. Secondary weapons are split between 4 pistols and 4 launchers.
All five launch submachine guns and five of the eight assault rifles are available by Level 34. The Cronen Squall is the final weapon unlock, at Level 55. The lists below show the unlock level for every weapon in the launch pool.

The full launch pool expands on the 22 weapons available in the beta. In Multiplayer, players can equip Overkill to carry a second Primary Weapon in place of a Secondary. DMZ allows players to bring two Primaries, two Secondaries, or one of each, with extra capacity depending on the Weapon Backpack.
DMZ also connects weapon progression across modes. Weapons and Attachments unlocked or leveled in Multiplayer or DMZ can be equipped at the Forward Operating Base Gunsmith for DMZ Cash. Players can also find weapons during deployments, build them from Weapon Manuals found in Hajin, or buy them from the FOB Vendor. Warzone integration will arrive in Season 1 later in 2026.
Weapon progression brings shared Attachments and Apex conversions
Attachments unlock once and then become available on every compatible weapon. Each weapon still has its own progression track, and a level that would award an already-unlocked Attachment instead grants a Bonus Level Up. Fully leveling a supported weapon unlocks its Apex Attachment, which occupies a separate slot rather than replacing a standard Gunsmith Attachment.
Apex options can change a weapon’s role instead of making a small stat adjustment. The Han 86’s X20 Skybreaker adds a targeting optic and 20mm airburst launcher. The M4 Hurricane turns the rifle into a high-capacity, top-loading 5.7x28mm variant, while the WZ.55 Striga Rampage converts the SMG for akimbo use. Weapon Prestige is available after completing a weapon’s levels. It awards exclusive camos but resets the weapon to Level 0 and relocks its Attachments.
Gunny, available in Create-a-Class and the DMZ FOB, recommends close-range, balanced, or long-range builds using Attachments already unlocked. Multiplayer and DMZ each have a Firing Range for comparing builds. The Multiplayer range includes targets at 10, 25, 50, and 100 meters, plus displays for accuracy, damage, target range, and time to kill.
Equipment, Killstreaks, and Perks follow their own unlock tracks
The launch loadout system includes 9 Tacticals, 11 Lethals, 12 Field Upgrades, 17 Killstreaks, and 18 Multiplayer Perks. Equipment unlocks at different Player Levels, with examples including the Snapshot Grenade at Level 10, SAM Airburst Turret at Level 8, and Tactical Insertion at Level 45.
Each loadout has its own Killstreak selection. Killstreak requirements range from 4 to 12 kills, and objective play also contributes toward progress. The 18 Multiplayer Perks use a Pick 3 system, organized into three groups of six.
