Gray Zone Warfare’s 0.5 Preview Opens October 19 With a One-Way Steam Switch

Only Supporter Edition owners can join early, and their preview progress will carry into the October 22 launch.

Gray Zone Warfare’s Update 0.5 Supporter Preview opens October 19, and only Supporter Edition owners can access it. Getting the build requires switching Steam to the supporter-preview branch, which prevents players from returning to version 0.4.7.5. Progress made in the preview will carry into the full Rogue Ops release on October 22, according to MADFINGER Games’ Steam announcement.

How to access the preview

Owners of the Base, Tactical, or Elite Edition can upgrade to Supporter Edition by paying the price difference. MADFINGER has not announced the exact start time for October 19.

  1. Open Steam and find Gray Zone Warfare in your Library.
  2. Right-click the game and choose “Properties.”
  3. Open “Game Versions & Betas” and select the “supporter-preview” branch.
  4. Click “Update” to download version 0.5, then launch the game.

If the update option does not appear, restart Steam. If that does not work, switch Steam to offline mode, return it to online mode, and try again.

MADFINGER also shared a video showing how to switch Steam branches.

What carries over after the partial wipe

Update 0.5 will wipe players’ lockers and money, but keep completed tasks, rank, unlocked apparel, vendor levels, and statistics from Update 0.4. It is a partial wipe rather than a full reset.

On first entering the preview or the full update, players must choose whether their existing progression transfers to PvE or PvEvP. The choice cannot be reversed, and the character’s faction remains the same.

Rogue Ops adds a hideout and crafting, smuggling and hunting activities, multiple playable characters, and new locations. The update also includes 7 new weapons and 340+ weapon parts, alongside changes to AI behavior, health, anti-cheat, Combat Outposts, audio, visuals, and optimization. MADFINGER says the full changelog will be published with the October 22 release.
