Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Is Cheaper Now, With Year 2 Content Starting Nov. 3

The free Duel mode has four formats, while 15 gadgets, a seventh boosted slot, six paid crossover packs, and a Nov. 6 shop update expand Year Two.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is permanently cheaper on the PlayStation Store, and Sega’s Year Two rollout begins Nov. 3 with the Godzilla Pack. A major 2.0 update is scheduled to follow on Nov. 6. The base game now costs $39.99 in the U.S., down from $69.99, and £34.99 in the U.K., down from £64.99. Digital Deluxe has dropped from $89.99 to $59.99 in the U.S. and from £79.99 to £49.99 in the U.K.

Sega’s Season Pass Two roadmap starts with Godzilla on Nov. 3 and Evangelion in January 2027, followed by four more packs through the end of that year. Free additions are planned from November 2026 through March 2027.

Free additions bring new racers and Duel formats

Bayonetta was previously announced for the free lineup. McLaren Racing will add Sonic racing gear and a vehicle based on the team’s F1 car, while Aigis from Persona 3 Reload arrives with her Palladion Dressy vehicle.

The new free Duel Mode puts two racers head-to-head. A Duel Boost gauge fills over time and through item use, then can be spent for bursts of speed. Racers can see their opponent’s items, gadgets and position, as well as the distance between them.

Four formats offer different ways to use the mode. Rival Duel is an offline challenge against CPU Rivals, including characters from owned paid DLC, and beating them all earns rewards that include a special machine. Free Match pairs players with random online opponents. Limited-time Best-of-10 events add special rules, Duel Class ranks and medals, while Friend Match lets players race online with friends and customize race rules, items and CrossWorlds. DLC characters will also be playable in Grand Prix and Rival Duel.

Year Two adds 15 gadgets. The Grand Master Plate opens a seventh gadget slot called the Super Slot, where a one-slot gadget receives an even stronger boosted effect.

The major 2.0 update scheduled for Nov. 6 will also add an in-game shop for skins and rewards from past festivals.

Season Pass Two spans 2026 and 2027

The Godzilla Pack arrives Nov. 3 with the Godzilla Escape course, where the monster reaches Sonic Adventure 2‘s City Escape, plus the Godzilla Cruiser, King Ghidorah Coupe and Mothra Surf. It also includes additional Jukebox tracks and sounds. The Evangelion Pack follows in January 2027 with the Tokyo-III course, Rei Ayanami and Asuka Shikinami Langley as racers, and three machines based on EVA-01, EVA-00 and EVA-02. Extra music, character emotes and sounds are included.

Scheduled for Q2 2027, the Virtual Sanrio Puroland Pack brings Hello Kitty and Kuromi, their Apple Kart and Charming Cruiser vehicles, and a course set in Virtual Sanrio Puroland. It also adds music, emotes and sounds. The Q3 SEGALAND Pack turns Sega history into a course and adds After Burner, OutRun and Super Megalo machines, along with more music and sounds.

Two further packs round out the schedule. The Midgar Pack, a working title for the Final Fantasy VII Remake-themed content, is slated for Q3 2027 with one course, two racers and one machine, plus music, emotes and sounds. Reload Revival Royal, themed around Persona 3, Persona 4 and Persona 5, follows in Q4 with one course, two characters and two machines, as well as music, emotes and sounds.

Season Pass Two costs $29.99 or £24.99. Its SEGA Controllers Decal Pack became available Oct. 9 and includes decals for the Genesis, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast and Dreamcast Visual Memory Unit. A SEGA Consoles Pack arrives Nov. 3 with the Genesis Tower US, SegaSaturn JP and Dreamcast EU machines. Players who own both Season Pass One and Season Pass Two can also unlock Super Shadow and his Super Dark Flare machine starting Nov. 3.

A physical Year One Edition is scheduled for Nov. 3. It bundles the base game with the DLC and updates introduced through the first Season Pass.
