Bit Reactor Has Started Bringing Star Wars Zero Company Staff Back
Bit Reactor's paid headcount is above half its pre-furlough level, though many staff remain unpaid.

Bit Reactor has begun bringing more of its staff back to work, a move CEO Greg Foertsch connected to continued post-launch support for Star Wars Zero Company. Foertsch said the return process started this week and called it an important step for supporting the game.

Foertsch said unexpected business developments beyond the studio’s control made the furlough decision difficult, but that it was necessary to help bring as many team members back as possible. He thanked players for supporting the game and said Bit Reactor would share more updates about itself and Zero Company soon.
Before the game’s August 27, 2026 launch, Bit Reactor confirmed furloughs, while reports described cuts affecting up to 80% of its staff. Furloughed employees remained on staff without pay or benefits, and a skeleton crew reportedly handled post-launch bugs.
Stephen Totilo’s update put Bit Reactor’s headcount above half its pre-furlough size, while a Game File update clarified that the paid headcount itself is above that threshold and many workers remain unpaid.
BREAKING: Star Wars Zero Company studio Bit Reactor has brought some of its furloughed workers this week. Most of the studio was furloughed a few weeks before launchOver half of the studio is now back, a source told me. The rest remain furloughedwww.gamefile.news/p/star-wars-…

Newzoo ranked Star Wars Zero Company sixth among PC games by revenue in August across six major Western markets. That ranking is a limited market measure, not a picture of Bit Reactor’s financial position.
Foertsch did not give a return total or timetable, or say whether employees still on furlough will come back or be laid off. The studio has not said whether it intends to restore its pre-furlough workforce.
