Subnautica 2 Hotfix 2 Fixes Voice Chat and Tadpole Bugs

The patch also corrects Scanner Station resource tracking, power readings, an Xbox memory leak, and crash reporting.

Subnautica 2‘s second Buddy System hotfix is available now, fixing voice activity detection, Tadpole docking and teleport problems, and inaccurate Scanner Station readings. Unknown Worlds says the update may take time to reach every region. The Steam hotfix announcement includes the full change list.

Several fixes target co-op and vehicles. Local and remote players are now handled consistently by voice detection, and a multiplayer bug that could show the host as dead after another player died has been fixed. Tadpoles can dock in orientations that their own geometry previously blocked, and the hotfix corrects cases where they were sent out of bounds incorrectly. Destroyed Tadpoles with attached chassis modules also now return within bounds.

The Scanner Station’s resource accuracy has been fixed, along with incorrect power readings for generators and turbines after they leave the active world and load back in. The update also addresses a memory leak on Xbox caused by audio commands accumulating while the game was paused or constrained, and changes the VSync setting when players select DLSS Dynamic FrameGen.

Hotfix 2 follows the first Buddy System hotfix, which addressed save compatibility and multiplayer issues. Unknown Worlds advises players to disable, remove, or uninstall mods before launching after this update. Mods have not been updated for the latest hotfix and may cause crashes or other unexpected launch behavior. The studio’s startup-crash guidance covers the issue. Players can restore mods after their creators update them.
