Road to Vostok Hotfix 0.2.0.3 Makes Nomads Spawn Less Often
The update also fixes a Smart App Control launch block, preserves saves and converted mods, and raises the reputation penalty for damaging Nomads.

Road to Vostok’s Hotfix 0.2.0.3 is available now, with added randomization meant to reduce Nomad spawns and a fix for high-end attachments appearing on Bandits and Nomads. Developer Antti Leinonen outlined the changes and early Build 2 feedback in a Steam update.
Build 2 launched with AI-versus-AI combat and the Nomad faction, bringing more activity to maps where hostile groups can encounter each other. Leinonen said the AI work kept performance in good shape even when active AI counts sometimes doubled compared with Build 1. He also described the new target-priority system and AI-versus-AI combat as solid for an initial version.
The tradeoff is how often those fights happen. Leinonen said random Nomad numbers could leave Area 05 feeling like a constant warzone across several runs. On Village and School, where Nomads and Bandits spawn close together, repeated battles could turn the extra action into noise players would rather escape. The hotfix adds randomization intended to make Nomads appear less often, addressing that pacing concern.
Another fix targets high-end attachments that were appearing on Bandits and Nomads, putting late-game loot on early-game maps. They no longer spawn on those groups, though limited high-end attachments may appear on Guards and Military. The update also increases the reputation loss for damaging Nomads from 10 to 20.
Windows Smart App Control had also been blocking some players from launching the game. Leinonen said the tool had started flagging new builds as potentially harmful and cautioned that the issue might already be resolved or affect only a small share of players. Restarting a PC would often clear the problem, and the hotfix lists the launch block as fixed.
Save files from 0.2.0.0 are compatible with 0.2.0.3, as are mods converted for 0.2.0.0. Versions 0.2.0.1 and 0.2.0.2 were skipped after Smart App Control blacklisted them. The Steam Autumn Sale discount is 25% through October 8.
Leinonen said the next Build 2 patches will add tasks for traders Driver and Hunter, fill in missing Airfield buildings, and bring in Nomad features that did not make the initial release. Build 3, focused on progression through quests and missions, is planned for the end of 2026.
